Review: KETER 8ft X 6ft STORAGE SHED (Model #17360970)

The 8X6 Apex Shed made by Keter is our #3 pick for storage sheds based on a combination of things like durability, appearance, cost and packaging choices. Keter is one of the world’s leaders in plastic manufacturing. They have a strong reputation worldwide and are based out of Israel.
Keter sheds are a nice addition to any backyard and pose very similar features that you’ll find with our Lifetime sheds. These features include the heavy-duty wall and roof panels which are made from high density polyethylene which is similar to the polypropylene panels that the Lifetime sheds are constructed from. The walls are reinforced with steel beams to eliminate the possibility of wall flexing due to high winds along with keep the structure as a whole stable. Since the walls are made from polypropylene, they will not crack, stain or be susceptible to rust problems down the line. The Apex 8x6 is a lighter shed weighing in at about 250 lbs which means that attaching it correctly to some type of base is essential for stability in the event of a storm. Another nice feature on this model is the air vent that sits directly above the door opening and comes in handy if you want to avoid a stale smell by trapped air. The Apex 8x6 you can find in various retail stores in Europe, North America and online. Like the Lifetime shed, The Apex 8X6 is expandable with an extension kit along with available accessories. One thing that we weren’t exactly keen on was the fact that most of the accessories don’t come included with the kit, but are available for additional cost. The accessories that are included are the two side windows along with the vent above the door opening.
Assembly on this unit proved to be simple, especially with the help of another person. This model took about a full afternoon to assemble which included the structure, flooring and base to set it on top of. Having someone help you balance the walls while you fasten the corners makes the process go much faster. We were overall impressed with the structural integrity of this unit as we tested weight and force throughout the shed. As far as packaging is concerned, our 8x6 model came with the full structure from roof to floor, skylights and windows, 55 inch wide double doors, and a 7 year warranty. This model when compared to other competitors’ products proves to stand the strength tests we put them through fairly well. We tested the weight of a riding lawn mower positioned inside along with the weight of a handful of people jumping up and down and attempting to scratch the surface. The Apex proved to withstand our simulated load test.
With the overall structure of this shed resembling those of a Lifetime shed or another vinyl-covered model, you can rest assure that it will handle tough storms and will be insured with a 7 year warranty. If you want a shed that has a few more features than are included in Keter's shed package look at either a Lifetime or Suncast Shed which will usually include more items in the base shed package and have a larger overall selection of accessories. If you’re looking for a medium-sized storage option with the structural strength of a polyethylene shed but for a slightly lower cost and less add-ons, the Keter Apex 8x6 might be the best bang for your buck.
